Politicisation beyond post-politics: new social activism and the reconfiguration of political discourse

In the wake of financial crisis 2008/9 social movements reminiscent eco-emancipatory 1980s powerfully repoliticised post-political order neoliberalism. Additionally, and more recently, right-wing populist movements, Fridays for Future or political mobilisations related to COVID-19 pandemic have substantially refashioned both understanding post-politics patterns its repoliticisation. This article introduces a special issue on Movements Activism beyond Post-politics. light these recent shifts we revisit notion post-politics, identify key characteristics contemporary forms repoliticisation, zoom in academic debates about prefigurative transformative politics – following preview contributions collated explore what ongoing reconfiguration public discourse may imply further research into movement activism post-politics.
